Dear UNT Community,

On behalf of the team charged by President Keller with assessing UNT’s current student success efforts and identifying opportunities for transformational improvement, I am pleased to share an update.

First, I want to thank everyone who completed our recent survey. In just one week, we received more than 1,400 responses from undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff. Our team is using this survey data, along with other information, to identify what student success means at UNT, what UNT is doing well, and opportunities for improvement. Your candid feedback and insights are invaluable to this process.

The assessment will be conducted in three phases, with phases one and two open for public comment:

  • Phase One: Initial report on the current state of student success efforts at UNT
  • Phase Two: Expanded report on current student success efforts and recommendations for short- and long-term strategies for improvement
  • Phase Three: Final report

You may read the initial report, which is now available for public comment. We will collect feedback through Wednesday, Oct. 23.

As you will see in the report, UNT’s enrollment growth, changes in student demographics and locations, and our rising research stature provide both unique challenges and opportunities. I invite you to review the report and share your feedback with us, including examples of promising practices occurring at UNT and other institutions.

Thank you for partnering with us on this important work. Student success is at the heart of everything we do, and every member of the UNT community plays a vital role in making our university a place where every student can flourish.

Sincerely,

Lisa McIntyre, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Student Success
