We only recognize diplomas, certificates and degrees that were completed at an accredited school, college or university. Universities must be recognized as higher education institutions by the Ministry of Education in your home country in order for UNT to recognize their accreditation.
Do not send transcripts, mark sheets, diplomas, certificates or any other academic credential that cannot be duplicated or replaced.
ALL DOCUMENTS BECOME THE PROPERTY OF UNT AND WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO YOU.

UNT requires official school transcripts, diploma and degree certificates from all universities attended. After we process your application from ApplyTexas, you will receive an email with access to the MyUNT portal to upload scans of your official documents to be used for evaluation.
These MUST be in both English and your native language, if applicable. English translations must be from either the academic institution or a certified translator.
UNT will also accept credential evaluation reports from NACES-member evaluation companies.* For more details on this option, see below.
Once all documents are received, we will evaluate and forward them to the academic program for an admission decision.
If admitted, students are required to submit original, official documents before registering for classes. These should be mailed or emailed directly to UNT from the university’s registrar or records office, or you can bring to them to our office in person in an institution-sealed envelope.
If you attended a U.S. institution, those transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to UNT. These cannot be uploaded with other documents. Most U.S. institutions are able to send transcripts electronically. Please contact your school directly for more details.
*Evaluations from NACES-member evaluation companies must be official reports received
directly from the evaluation service and not uploaded through the student portal.
These can be sent electronically or by mail from the evaluation service to the UNT
Graduate Admissions office.
*UNT reserves the right to adjust credential analysis findings from evaluation services
based on university standards.
If you will be studying on an F-1 or J-1 visa, you must show proof of financial support. Once admitted, to request an I-20 to attend UNT, you must submit all required documents via iNorthTX – UNT’s new online system for managing international student and scholar cases.
You can log-in to iNorthTX by clicking the log-in button. Your case status will be available once you log-in to iNorthTX.
If you are having difficulty navigating the I-20 request process in iNorthTX, please contact International Student and Scholar Services at internationaladvising@unt.edu.
Sponsored students should contact the UNT Sponsored and Special Programs office.
Official transcripts and marksheets must bear the official seal and/or original signature of the appropriate school officer. Certificates issued by national examining boards must bear the official seal and/or original signatures of the appropriate examining board officer. Transcripts must show a current issue date and be sent directly from the issuing authority.
When an original document cannot be duplicated according to the secondary school, examining board or university, attested copies may be substituted.
Attestations from secondary schools and universities must be obtained either from the issuing school's Registrar, the Controller of Examinations/Records or the Principal.
Documents issued by an examining board may not be attested by a school official. They must be attested by the examining board. Attestations must include appropriate signatures and official stamps.
Copies attested by notary officials, translators, heads of departments, lecturers, other government posts, etc. are not acceptable substitutes.
UNT will accept Fulbright or Education USA attested documents.
Official English translations must accompany official non-English transcripts provided by the issuing school or university. Translations must be completed by the issuing institution or by a certified or accredited translation agency.
Schools that utilize marksheets must include paper titles or course subjects. If the paper title or course subject is not listed on the marksheet, the required information may be included in a supplement. Individual yearly marksheets are required (not a consolidated marksheet).
All international evaluations are completed at UNT by qualified international transcript evaluators. UNT does not use transcript evaluation reports prepared by third-party evaluation services.
International Admissions at the University of North Texas uses a variety of sources to determine equivalencies. It is important to note that the list of equivalencies on our website is not complete, but rather represents the most common credentials we receive from each country.
Our information does not always coincide with private evaluation agencies. UNT evaluates credentials exclusively for their education placement at this institution.
