UNT's Denton and Frisco Campuses will close tonight (Friday, Jan. 23) at 9 p.m. and remain closed until 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26. A winter storm is expected to bring freezing ice and snow that will deteriorate road conditions and make travel hazardous. UNT will send an Eagle Alert Sunday evening with information about Monday’s opening. Please take a moment to review UNT System policy 02.2000 Closures for Severe Weather and these important guidelines so you are prepared for all possibilities:
Essential services, including police, facilities, housing and dining, will continue to serve campus residents.
UNT Dining Services will remain open but with modified locations and hours to serve those on campus. For the latest updates on locations and hours, please visit https://dining.unt.edu/hours.
Night Flight, which typically runs 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., will also be canceled today (Friday, Jan. 23), Saturday and Sunday. DCTA, which provides bus service on campus and in Denton, is also expecting to reduce or cancel services. Find updates via Transportation Services social media @UNTTransit on Instagram and @UNTTransit on Facebook, from DCTA directly @rideDCTA on Instagram or RideDCTA on Facebook and on their website, DCTA.net.
If you are a staff member with the capability to work from home and are scheduled to work, please plan to do so. If you are unable to work remotely, please contact your supervisor.
Employees whose jobs cannot be performed remotely and who have not been issued a laptop should enter Leave-Weather Closure-EMG for scheduled hours.
Hourly staff, including student employees, are not eligible for emergency leave and will only be paid for hours worked.
Stay safe and #MeanGreenReady!
