The UNT Food Pantry is continuing to accept donations to address food insecurity among our students. This has definitely been a hard year for everyone, and any items you can give are appreciated.
For safety during the pandemic, the pantry is offering students contactless curbside pick-up only, in the back of Crumley Hall at the Diamond Eagle Student Resource Center. A Google form is updated each week for students to place their orders.
Thanks to a generous donor, the food pantry has a refrigerator and a freezer this year, which is helping students get a wider variety of items. In addition to food and toiletry items, they will take donations of empty egg cartons to help divide up the eggs that are now available for students.
They also accept cash, checks, donations through UNT Advancement and grocery store gift cards. The checks and gift cards can be mailed (University of North Texas, Dean of Students Office, 1155 Union Circle #305008, Denton, TX 76203-5017) or dropped off in the University Union, Suite 409.
Donations can be dropped off:
- During curbside pick-up hours: 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays; 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Thursdays; 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays
- In the Dean of Students Office at the University Union, Suite 409: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday
- At department sites on campus that are collecting donations for the food pantry — UNT International has collection boxes in Marquis Hall through October
If you are donating perishable items, please email deanofstudents@unt.edu to coordinate a drop-off time. If needed, faculty and staff on the main campus also can schedule a donation pick-up time.
Please make sure donated food items are convenient. For example, easy-open cans are preferred to those that require a can opener.
Due to shelving constraints and storage safety, the pantry is not accepting:
Canned green beans, canned corn, canned peas, Vienna sausage, canned tuna, or fresh or frozen meats. Expired food cannot be accepted at any time.
