Dear UNT Community,
After working diligently with the State of Texas to become an approved administrator of COVID-19 vaccines, we are opening our COVID-19 vaccine registration site today to begin preparing to administer the vaccine to our UNT community.
As a vaccine administrator, UNT will follow state regulations and will administer vaccines to individuals eligible under the phased approach outlined by the Texas Department of State Health Services. UNT's registration will be limited to 500 people at this time since we do not yet know when or how many vaccines we will receive for our campus community. We are opening registration now so that we can promptly administer vaccines when they do arrive.
Our portal will allow UNT community members to verify eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine under the current state eligibility requirements. It also will be used to communicate to eligible members when they can receive the vaccine, including when spots become available for scheduling.
Meanwhile, as we await more information from the state, you should work with your physician or medical provider in your area to obtain the vaccine when it becomes available for your eligible phase. Please keep an eye on the Denton County Public Health COVID-19 Vaccine website for the latest information and availability.
We can see that our COVID-19 testing and safety guidelines are having a positive impact and are allowing our campus to remain open. Even with the vaccine on the horizon for some in our community, I strongly encourage you to continue to wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet away from others, avoid crowds and wash your hands often.
We must help keep our community safe by remaining vigilant and caring for each other.
Stay safe,
Neal Smatresk
UNT President
