Dear UNT Students,
Congratulations on your successes during the first half of the spring semester. I know it has been a busy semester, and I hope you take time to enjoy yourselves and relax next week during spring break. You deserve a break from all your hard work.
With COVID-19 case numbers declining, I know it can be tempting to return to pre-pandemic habits. However, this virus is still very much a part of our world right now, and we should all remain vigilant to protect everyone. We still have vaccines and boosters available at the Student Health and Wellness Center for those who have not received them. Science continues to prove that getting fully vaccinated, including a booster, is the best way to protect yourself and others from this virus.
If you are not vaccinated, and cannot get vaccinated, please continue to practice general caution. Wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces and avoid high risk situations. I also ask that everyone, vaccinated or not, who travels during spring break, please consider taking advantage of our free COVID-19 testing upon your return to campus.
As we head into the second half of our semester, I encourage you to take advantage of student resources through the Division of Student Affairs or through Succeed at UNT to help make the most of your time with us.
Enjoy your spring break and make the most of your days away from your studies. I look forward to seeing you back soon — healthy, safe, and ready to finish the semester strong.
Stay safe,
Neal Smatresk
UNT President
