Dear UNT community,
Commencement is a month away and soon we'll celebrate the UNT Class of 2019 with ceremonies and the UNT Grad Block Party. This also is a busy time for UNT as we continue demolition of Fouts Field and construction of new parking spaces in Lot 20. This construction will limit the number of parking spaces available during commencement season.
Please be aware of special traffic routes and commencement parking accommodations as we welcome guests to our campus. The UNT Police Department and Transportation Services will be directing traffic and posting signage, and there will be volunteers offering guidance to guests. Please extend help if you see a commencement guest who is lost or in need of assistance.
In the coming weeks, you'll get more specific details about where to park and reminders about increased traffic. In general, we are asking faculty and staff to avoid the North Texas Boulevard area May 10-11 for the undergraduate commencement ceremonies. On Friday, May 10, all faculty and staff should park in Eagle or Faculty/Staff lots on the north side of campus or in the Union Circle Garage.
I appreciate your patience during this important time for our graduates. I hope you will join me in making the day a special one for each graduate and celebrate with us at the Grad Block Party starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, along Highland Street, on the Union South Lawn and in the Library Mall.
Let's give our graduates and their guests a wonderful graduation experience and work together to provide the best experience possible.
UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
President
