Dear UNT Community,

Monday's observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day provides us time to reflect on the impact of Dr. King's unmatched social justice work. His actions led to important change, and it is our job to accelerate future progress. Service is one way in which we can promote change.

In celebration of Dr. King's legacy, the Multicultural Center, UNT Outreach, and Center for Leadership and Service have planned UNT's 4th Annual MLK Jr. Day of Service for Monday, Jan. 17. You are invited to participate in in-person and hybrid events.

• 10 a.m. - Former Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Casey Thomas will deliver a keynote address in the Business Leadership Building. Registration is required.
• 11:30 a.m. - A supply drive and service project will be hosted in the Business Leadership Building Atrium.
• 1:30 p.m. - UNT's National Pan-Hellenic Council will host a MLK Rally outside the UNT Union before leading the MLK March to Fred Moore Park.
• 3:30 p.m. - The march ends at the MLK Jr. Rec Center for a communitywide program.

As part of MLK Jr. Day of Service, UNT is hosting a personal items supply drive through the month of January. Items needed include face masks, toothbrushes, and travel-sized toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and non-alcohol mouthwash. Donations can be dropped off at the Multicultural Center (Union 335), Center for Leadership and Service (Union 345), or UNT Outreach (ESSC Third Floor Lobby). Supplies will be donated to Denton County Friends of the Family, Denton Rehab Nursing Home, UNT Food Pantry, Denton ISD, and the Turning Point.

As we continue the critically important fight against racism and bias, our UNT Family grows stronger. As a university, we will always seek ways to promote inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.
