Dear UNT community,
In case you missed yesterday's game and my accompanying Tweetstorm, I'm proud to tell you that our Mean Green football team has started the season 3-0 for the first time since 1989. Yesterday's defeat of the Southeastern Conference's Arkansas Razorbacks, 44-17, also set the record for the most points UNT has ever scored against an SEC opponent - an amazing accomplishment that is fitting for the team's overall best start in nearly three decades.
In celebration of our team's fantastic start, I am officially declaring Monday, Sept. 17, Mean Green Monday! Be sure to wear your green to show your pride, and congratulate head football coach Seth Littrell and his team on all their hard work.
Under the leadership of Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker, our Mean Green Athletics has created quite a bit of excitement and enthusiasm around campus this past year, having celebrated our men's basketball team running away with the CBI championship, another New Orleans Bowl appearance by football and several teams winning their conferences. I'm proud to see that pride and winning streak continue this year, especially after Saturday's win against the Razorbacks.
Let's show our Mean Green pride and appreciation by transforming this campus into a sea of green tomorrow. And plan to #PackApogee when the team kicks off conference play (and hopefully looks to make its record 5-0) against Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Sept. 29.
Go Mean Green!
UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
President
