Dear UNT Community,
I am proud to welcome LaToya Haynes as assistant vice president for Title IX and Equal
Opportunity. LaToya, who begins Monday, Nov. 20, is charged with leading the Title
IX and Equal Opportunity (EO) office in coordinating the university’s Title IX compliance,
enforcing the university's equal opportunity policies and investigating complaints
of discrimination, harassment and retaliation.
With 10 years of investigative experience working with staff, faculty and student
complaints, LaToya’s experience includes roles at University of Texas Southwestern
Medical Center, Old Dominion University and University of Maryland – College Park,
as well as two assignments here at the University of North Texas — one in Equal Opportunity
& Title IX and one in Residence Life — Community Standards. She earned a master’s
in social work from Stony Brook University and is working on her doctoral degree in
higher education (expected December 2024).
In her new role at UNT, LaToya will help uphold the university’s highest ethical standards.
Her wealth of knowledge and experience will serve her well in this leadership role
as will her familiarity with the university and the university community we serve.
I know she will leverage her expertise to provide the best, most caring support possible
at UNT.
I also want to thank the search committee for their dedication to bringing an experienced
professional to UNT. Their work in support of our community is appreciated.
Please join me in welcoming LaToya to our UNT family.
Sincerely,
Clayton Gibson
Vice President for Finance and Administration
