Dear UNT Faculty and Staff,
UNT is set apart as one of the most comprehensive, caring, and creative public universities
in Texas and the nation. Your role is critical in creating this caring culture for
our students in every step of their journey to graduation, and I truly appreciate
the work each of you does for our students. We Care is one of our five Shared Values,
and as important as it is to care for our students, it’s equally important that you
feel supported, valued, and appreciated for the work you do.
Each year, through the Gallup Engagement Survey, we can evaluate the progress on our
strategic goal to attract, develop, and celebrate members of our UNT family who contribute
greatly to make UNT a top place to learn and work.
For the sixth year, in coordination with the UNT System, the Gallup survey will be
administered to gain insight about your experience as a UNT employee. Your feedback
from this survey helps leadership across the university to dive deeply into topics
that you care about so that we can improve your experience. We look at trends in employee
satisfaction, identify areas for improvement, and highlight opportunities for increased
employee engagement.
With the information we gather from the survey results, change does happen! For example,
the new AccouUNTable Supervisor program is in full swing because of your prior survey
feedback, and I’m excited to support programs like this in the future. Also, always
top-of-mind for our community is work-life balance, and we continuously look for suggestions
to better help support you and your families. Our wellness.unt.edu website is a comprehensive resource that covers nine aspects of wellness, and we are
close to launching Wellbeing Champions, a wellness initiative born from your feedback. In this new program, volunteers from
across campus will help foster a healthier workplace for each other and help UNT get
closer to achieving our workplace wellbeing aspirations.
The Gallup survey will be administered Oct. 10-23, and you’ll receive an email directly
from Gallup. Please don’t mistake this for spam. It only takes about five minutes to complete,
and answers are confidential. Please take time to complete this important measurement
tool. Results will be released later this fall and used by unit-level managers to
shape any continuing initiatives and develop new ones.
UNT is an amazing place to work, and it’s through your feedback that we continue to
evolve to best support you, our faculty and staff, so you can be your best for our
students and each other. We are truly Better Together. Thank you in advance for taking
the time to share your feedback.
UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
UNT President
