The Save and Soar plan is designed to encourage continuous enrollment and timely graduation, save families money, reduce potential loan debt and allow students to take classes during summer and winter sessions at a discounted rate. Certain plan participants also are eligible for housing discounts during the Summer semester.
The Save and Soar plan locks in your board-designated tuition and any applicable differential
tuition for four years at a slightly higher initial rate than the traditional tuition
plan. You’ll benefit from knowing your tuition cost up front so you can plan for your
academic future and graduate on time. You also can take courses in both summer and
winter sessions at a discounted rate so you can start your academic career strong
and finish faster.
Guaranteed tuition rate includes:
The plan does not apply to room and board, mandatory fees or course/instructional fees. Those rates are assessed separately.
This plan is available to incoming first-time freshmen and undergraduate transfer
students.
Students must meet the Texas residency requirements and be seeking a bachelor’s degree.
The plan does not apply to graduate students. If you do not meet the Texas residency
requirements, are an out-of-state student or an international student, you will be
automatically enrolled in the traditional tuition plan.
New students will make their tuition selection once their first tuition and fee bill is calculated and before their designated registration fee payment deadline. You will have ample opportunity to make your selection.
Room and board rates are charged separately and in addition to academic costs.
First-time freshmen living in UNT Housing and enrolled in at least 14 semester credit
hours during the spring semester will receive a 40% discount in the housing rates
during their first summer semester.
The Save and Soar locked-in tuition cost does NOT include course/instructional fees. These fees may vary per semester and per course.
No, the fixed-rate plan does not include a graduation incentive. However, you’ll be able to save money and graduate sooner if you take advantage of the plan’s discounted rates for summer and winter sessions.
Yes, differential tuition will be assessed along with mandatory fees, and course/instructional fees. However, differential tuition will be locked in at the rate effective when the Save & Soar election is made. A student opting in to Save & Soar will pay the differential rates in effect at that time for the duration of their participation in the fixed price program. The differential tuition rates for Save & Soar participants will be slightly higher than those in effect for students in the traditional plan.
Save and Soar Tuition Plan participants will be eligible to receive a discount of
$100 per semester credit hour in board-designated tuition for enrollment in the winter
session if they were enrolled in 14 or more semester credit hours the previous fall
semester. They will be eligible to receive a discount of $100 per semester credit
hour in board-designated tuition for enrollment in the summer semester if they were
enrolled in 14 or more semester credit hours in the previous spring semester.
First-time freshmen living in UNT Housing and enrolled in at least 14 semester credit
hours during the spring semester will receive a 40% discount in the housing rates
during their first summer semester.
To graduate in four years or less, students will typically need to earn 30 college credit hours each year. UNT’s tuition and fee schedule lets you take 15 or more hours per semester for about the same cost as 12 hours. If you choose the new Save and Soar Tuition Plan your first semester, you also can save money and graduate on time by earning additional credit hours through exclusive discounts during summer and winter sessions.
UNT is making every effort to offer the necessary courses throughout the academic year and has focused specifically on improving and enhancing its summer offerings. In addition, UNT now offers a winter session in December to provide students with even more ways to get ahead and graduate on time.
If you don’t opt into the Save and Soar plan, you will automatically be part of the traditional plan, in which your academic costs may increase each year for four years and board-designated tuition and differential tuition will likely vary.
Yes. Transfer students can elect the Save and Soar plan. There is no limit to the number of transfer hours.
No. If you leave UNT, stop taking college courses altogether and then return to UNT, you will automatically fall into the traditional plan upon your return.
